Takoradi-based pop artiste, Kyn
Citi talks about his private tours across Africa, an attempt to acclimatize
with the music atmosphere in the continent. Unfortunately to the tours; he has learnt that “Ghanaian artistes are not recognized outside”.
In a question to why he makes
such comment; reiterates that; other African countries do not enjoy our local
music; especially the ones composed in the local dialect. Kyn Citi whom had
being on this mission to make exploits as well as market our culture met a
rebuff in the Kenyan and South African music lovers. “They liked my music but
the sad thing is that, they do not understand”.
He suggests that Ghanaian songs
are blended with English to be able to met international standards.
He also
spoke of the way poor promotion and branding of artistes here. The way artistes
carry themselves here negatively affects their career in the outside world. He
mentions that Fuse ODG is the only artiste accepted in the eastern and southern
parts of Africa.
In a comment on the current music scene; he argues that "Shata
Wale is the only artiste that can bring any upcoming artiste into the
limelight". Hence, he takes this opportunity to tell trending dancehall and
Shata’s latest rival Chameleon, to kindly apologize to Shata and his fans. But
when Chameleon was contacted by FajGhana he claims he sees no reason for an apology,
instead he questions what Kyn knows about him (Chameleon) and Shata, and
that he pleads that, nobody drags him name in the mud.
