KALYBOS IS TOO FAKE.

Richard Asante, popularly known as Kalybos in the “Boys Kasa” short comedy series is a disguised failure to our entertainment world. He started these short videos on social media such as Whatsapp, YouTube and Facebook not long before hitting the limelight. I must confess, his videos have the largest viewership on social media now.

Today, his term “Ewurade, made nkwasiasem” has become a household tongue. Within this short time, he’s been able to gain fame and got contracts with Airtel Ghana. I think, it’s a good start, though with premature achievements. Many have adjudged him; the king of Ghanaian comedy. What a misguided judgement, I must admit.

Despite the picture qualities, good shots, beautiful locations and attractive costumes, nothing about Kalybos’ short videos move me. I simply don’t know what kind of character he’s playing. I’m least impressed by his fake demeanor and an anguish laughter to add it up. I know he’s forcing himself but he’s still not up to the task. Those of us looking on with technical eyes are expecting something more appealing and challenging. Kalybos is just too monotonous and fake.

Where else can opportunists like Kalybos reign, if not in Ghana where we lack comedy promoters. He could not have even had the chance to join the bar of competitors, talk less of leading in the comedy fraternity if he was in a place like Nigeria. Where are the comedy folks in Ghana, that Kalybos is breaking bounds like a loosened goat? I have a good friend who often say; sometimes, one is better behind camera. Maybe, he should consider joining the crew and give chance to the real hit makers since he has risen to no good.

With no doubt, I bid Kalybos to get off the scene for some time. He should go build upon his character and come again. If he fails to do so, he would be defamed at the least exposure of any versatile artiste. Don’t be convinced that there are no comedians in Ghana. There are loads of them; it’s just a matter of time. Kalybos should get serious with the job as it’s not for mere gasconades but creative thinkers.

I attribute the rise of Kalybos to the lack of competition in the industry. The likes of Funny Face could have being a stopper if not for his resignation from the Chorkor Trotro TV series. It seems there’s not enough platforms to feature such talents; that’s why shallow-minded comedians can fly here without any need to upgrade. Due to lack of seemingly challenging artistes, he forced himself on Ghanaians since we have no choice.

If Kalybos takes my little elucidation into consideration, it would last him in this industry.
I strongly believe that his hypocritical associates and ignorant masses would call me names for this objective revelation. As the many that would praise him are the same that would bring him down.

Like Johannes Kepler once said; “I much prefer the sharpest criticism of a single intelligent man to the thoughtless approval of the masses”. What haven’t we seen happen to even great talents?

It takes adorable, kind-hearted and courageous persons to tell hard truths of this nature. Forget about those myopic fans and work hard for a better tomorrow!

To those who would interpret the purpose of this article to as mere hatred; reverse your decision. I’m for the betterment of the industry.

I BELIEVE IN KALYBOS, I BELIEVE IN GHANA SHOWBIZ.

Merci,

“WEST AFIRCAN MOVIE CANNOT BE COMPARED TO ANY MOVIE ELSEWHERE” - Kwame Yeboah

Gianluca Romeo, the Italian born entertainer and self-acclaimed Ghanaian, known in showbiz circles as Kwame Yeboah has revealed to Faj Ghana the need to invest in our local movies. According to him,
African movies cannot be compared to other movies elsewhere since there is a clear difference between the African and the Western lifestyles.
Hence, for one to make such comparison is getting out of context. African movie industry is only beaten by the unwillingness of producers to spend and use more sophiscated shooting equipment.
The Italian born whom arrived on the soils of the old Goldcoast nation some six years ago seem to be breaking bounds in the entertainment world now. His picking on some local languages have not only fetched him friends but publicity. His fluence especially on the twi had won him roles and interviews on the various tv platforms including Chorkor Trotro, KSM show, Billy the Wonder amongst others. There is a school of thought that believes that, the Western language is the ultimate but Romeo has proved that null. “Language is my passion”, he affectionately said. He has stated that he’s easily moved by new things around, therefore find ways to learn it.
Kwame’s arrival in Ghana has taken him another level in his acting career. He enroled into a theatre school after his Junior High school in Italy, where he took part in several stage productions before coming to Ghana to get to the big screens. He’s currently basing in Kumasi where is doing his acting alongside “mcing” and scriptwriting.
He strongly believes in African movies and explains that producers should spend more to enhance quality and international recognition. All the stories are with us here, we needn’t go about imitating other cultures. We simply need to take our own work to the next level. He further stated that, the stories are here doesn’t mean; one can just get up and shoot anything anyhow. “A good storyline. Everything should make sense” he stressed.
Kwame has prospects of learning editing in sometime and as well produce an effect movie. “I personally want to learn editing and produce a quality effect movie by God’s grace”.

NO SEX, NO ROLE IS NORMAL.

Whenever the syndrome of No Sex, No Role is made mention of, the ideology of “give what you have to get what you want” comes to mind. It is obvious each one of us is capable of doing anything for someone to get a benefit or an undue advantage in return. “Everything in the world is about sex except sex. Sex is about power”. Therefore the illicit practice of warming directors and producers bed to get roles should not only be attached to the movie industry. It is in all sects of trade. But just that, that of the movie industry has become methodical.

Sequel to my article titled “Sex Scandal Hit The Movie Industry”, which sought to criticize people indulging into such dubious practices met a severe rebuff the from the public. The provoked views exceeded the supportive ones, hence, it tended me to believe that, many are they that benefit from these ill-sexual pleasures from their subjects. “Afterall, it’s not rape but an agreed sexual act”; says one of the comments. At first I felt the need to fight solely for the desperate wannabes whom are mostly sexually exploited. But fortunately and unfortunately, the responses from my readers revealed to me that; many were displeased with my course and instead defended it as not only in film-making but a form of corruption trending in other professions likewise. These are mostly sexual advantages taken over ladies to offer them job opportunites, salary increment, promotions among others. In the hospitals; it’s between doctors and nurses, in offices; it’s between bosses and their secretaries, in higher institutions; it’s between lecturers and female students, even in churches; it’s between pastors and the female members.etc. So, for one to attribute such practice to only the movie industry is being selective.

In quest to seek the cause of this ugly lewd; my research indicated that both directors and producers on one side and the artiste on the other side contribute to the course.

A careful study of behaviours of wannabe artistes has proven that, they are rarely impatient when it comes to matters regarding their ability to become stars out of the blues. They are utterly ready to do anything to attain it without taking things into consideration. To my dismay, those that usually force themselves on the directors and producers are taken advantage of accordingly and are not even casted “walker-pass” roles. It’s obvious they know to themselves they are not good enough for a role, yet, fight for it by blatantly offering themselves cheap to the film-makers to be used as wantoms.

In other times, it is those unprofessional film-makers who coax their actresses and get them into their beds, by promising them lead roles. They use a bit of experience to beat them; mostly in this format; “Do you know you’re good? I want to help you, you’re very potential though the industry is very competitive, but I’d make sure I’d help you. You must also be kind by giving me what I want, which is ………………”.  After long thinking, the impatient actress would oblige since her stardom is at stake. These are the usual signs of such tricksters. They only use empty promises to get what they want.

Worse of it all, these actresses sometimes stoop low for even floor members of the production to have their share, all in the pessistant pursuit for a dreaming stardom. These wanabes are so anxious and ignorant that they believe and do whatever a self-acclaimed movie-maker tells them, just like a sheep following its master to the abbatoir they are exploited.

As a result some actresses have already turned “industrial prostitutes” since they are just breaking every sphere of the industry with sex.

My word of advice as a film-maker is that; wannabe actresses must be patient in their chase of stardom. They must not force themselves on the industry men; if you’re good player, you would surely be heard of, through hardwork as Nicki Minaj once said “I want people – especially, young girls to know that in life, nothing is going to be based on sex appeal. You’ve got to have something else to go with”. Keeping constant rehearsing and broadening one’s scope about the industry would better give artistes sound judgement towards the job.

To be continued . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

BE WARNED AGAINST JOURNALISTS, THOSE RUDE CELEBS.

There is this unruly and ingratiate attitude clamming the necks of Ghanaian celebrities which makes them think they have attained it and for that matter rain insults on the media for any blonder. First of all, whom do those celebrities think they are? They see themselves as most able, wealthy super-beings having a number of followers to their credit. But I see them as “public servants” who still have to know what it takes.

For them, all they expect from the media is to gain the “hypes”, “promotions”, “features”, “adverts”, “markets” and hear nothing like criticism. Have you not read or heard that “everyone is subjected to criticism” especially in the hungry face of the media?
Reference to the first line of the fourth paragragh of the GJA Preamble is a backing prove; “As the fourth estate of the realm, the public expect the media to play the watchdog role”. Having seen this, shouldn’t the media bite anyone or organization attributed with social misbehaviours? Obiviously yes, the media must help wipe off all insanity and replenish the society with good tidings.

Secondly, whom made them popular? Isn’t it the same journalist? Sometimes, I wish all the journalists can play the “Anas”; so that evident tapes would be brought out in times like this. I tell you but you wouldn't believe how these so-called celebrities worshiped journalists in their preliminary route to stardom.
When seeking publicity, they parade at radio stations with angelic looks, showering the journalist with all sort of praises, coaxing him with smiles and respect in the highest sense. This is the time you can even tell them to lie on the ground prostrate to walk on them, they would do it like nobody’s business but when they get to the peak of their career, they realize the mere “low income” journalist a nobody they used to gain limelight.
They tend to forget home; how they spent all their hard-earned “pesewas” on Studio recording and attending auditions. Today, because they are riding in luxurious cars that the journalist cannot even afford the tyre.
The journalist has become so cheap before him that they can insult him without thinking twice if he dares criticizes them or their works. They would even forget how they visited the journalist in their homes and even offered to wash their “alatsa” cars, if there was any. Those where the time, the journalist could have made sales on payola but that was the same time these aggressive stardom hunters had not even what to eat.
The needless journalist working for God and country would help them out expecting little appreciation in some time to come, only to be treated as rags after gaining the fame. When the journalist now wants to even have a chat with them or take photos with them, they would watch their bodyguards throw them away like chaff. When you even need their presence to boost a function, they’d pass you on to their management to lay huge cost before you.

After sometime of receiving publicity, they begin to misbehave then when criticism come in they call the poor journalist a “devil in disguise”.
It’s high time the media advised itself.

WHETHER DEAD OR ALIVE? CASTRO SAVES MORE LIVES FROM LOSS.

Though the demise of hiplife-star, Theophilus Tagoe a.k.a Castro came as a profound shock to Ghanaians, I would rather describe it as an awakening-calling on stakeholders of resorts in the country to put in measures to ensure safety. The drowning of people in waters at these resorts have being a thing of the past.
The stories of millions who died from taking leisure at swimming and using watercrafts are always swept under the carpet, except for the few pathetic ones the media reveal. Even with that, it ends there and as to how the dead bodies are buried remains mystery. Until, the adverse of our negligence happen to a popular person, the lame continues to suffer for it.
On Sunday, 6th July, we were plying our normal duties just when rumours from all directions came hitting our social media walls claiming; Castro has drowned in the Ada river while riding a jet ski with his girlfriend Janet Bandu. He was reported to have checked in at the Aqua Safari Resort at Ada with Asamoah Gyan and three other friends on Friday 4 to spend the weekend there. Castro was said to have invited his girlfriend Janet to join them on the day on which they went skiing.
As at now, his body is still pending searches; a number of agencies rushed to the scene to assist in withdrawing him from the river. Marine Police, the Navy, the Tema Police Command, the Ada Police Command, Ada East District Assembly, Local fishermen and fetishes have all showed up for his rescue. Though, there have been no traces of him or his girlfriend, Ghanaians has concluded on various opinions. A school of thought claim; the lady had taken him to the underworld to show him to her fellow marine spirits.
Another school of thought too claims it's in line with the occasional happenings around the black Star Captain Asamoah Gyan anytime he returns from a tournament. Whereas some of us feel he's dead; some fetishes have said he's receiving training underwater and would return alive in some time later.
If he's truly not dead then we wish him a safe return.
Meanwhile, I would also use this opportunity to teach the public some safety precautions to observe before getting on a watercraft.
Firstly, don't operate a sea boat or jet ski when drunk or having used drugs. This can impair the brain and would make you lose focus hence causing accident.

To avoid injury, turn-off engine when individuals are in the water.
Don't stand in or on a vessel when it's in motion!

Try as much as possible to minimize distractions by riding away from tidal waves forming on the surface of the water.

Don't overload the vessel! Only keep light materials on board, to ensure safety.

Watch the oil, temperature and other gauges for signs of problems. Ignoring signs can result in costly repairs.

Be sure to check the engine compartment to see if the battery is secure and cables are tight. Check fuel lines for leaks or signs of wear or cracking.

Check the vessel's fire extinguisher to see if it hasn't expired.

And the most important of all, don't forget your life jacket!

If all the above are adhered to and also enforced by resort authorities, it would be safe for us all.

MAHAMA'S ALLEGED "DEMONIC PAD" IS BUNKUM.

I was completely overwhelmed when I first read on social media circles a piece which says Mahama's pad distribution Policy is a form of occultic ritual to help him sustain the presidency come 2016. I couldn't simply stop asking myself when Ghanaians and for that matter Africa would be relieved of indoctrination and spiritual slavery? And what salts the situation most is when I see intellects or learned men championing this course, all in the name of 'politricks'.

I was on my usual news hunting when I came across this gibberish; 'Mahama's Pad Campaign is Demonic - Sammy Awuku'. Sammy Awuku; the Youth Organizer of the main opposition NPP is spearheading those waging war against the government's decision to distribute sanitary pads to school girls in deprived areas.

These heartless opponents are using their cheap propaganda to create a gap between parents and government in this country, they are deceiving the public by claiming that the pads are meant for spiritual purposes. Meanwhile, government has explained that it has secured a $156million loan from the world bank to finance the construction of secondary schools, serve as scholarship to financially challeged students and part for the distribution of pads to school girls in remote areas. It obvious, the distribution of pads for the school girls is totally illogical but how to ply about it counts!

Therefore, in playing politics with this, one must be skeptical not to indoctrinate the innocent Ghanaians at large. It's completely out of place for the opposition or analysts to spiritualize this agenda especially in this twenty-first century when science and technology has ruled out all these fallacies.

I was equally mad when I heard government's decision to use part of a secured loan to fund the distribution of pads. It was quite unusual and I would never be happy with Mahama for this, yet I didn't read any spiritual meaning into it.

Spiritualism and Superstitious beliefs have caused great havoc to the development of Africa already; so I won't take it lightly when I see knowledgeable men go that primitive because they should know better. So I expect them(politicians) to demonstrate realistic ideas to teach the ignorant masses. Due to this same ignorance, a number of false prophets and fetishes have gained popularity because of their acclaimed spiritual aid and are mentally enslaving others.

I don't bear membership card in any political party in this country but have stood out as a concerned citizen to help tirelessly fight for the renaissance of the entire Africa from any form of indoctrination. Like Marcus Garvey once said 'liberate the minds of men and ultimately you will liberate the bodies of men'.

I must confess, I would not succumb to spare Mahama for this 'pad bamboozle'. There are trillions of developmental projects to undertake but for him to choose the supplying of pads to school girls, he must have reasons.

If we care to even dive into the spiritual side of politics, we would find out that almost all are politicians are in secret cults. The consultations and sacrifices they (politicians) do during elections is enough to say the least. Don't be like the hypocrite, trying to let your friend out because of your political difference!

I'm therefore warning you those nation-wreckers to put your spiritual deceit aside and play fair game, otherwise. . . .................WATCHOUT FOR PART 2!

STOP CRITICIZING THE BLACKSTARS!

Following the recent eviction of the Black Stars from the group stages in the ongoing World Cup in Brazil; the senior team together with the coach and GFA President have met a lot of bashings from all tenets of the country.
But for the 'JUST ANOTHER DAY' fame; he's unperturbed by the circumstance at hand. Instead he's making a clarion-call on all ghanaians to help encourage and support the Black Stars, since this was just a mishap. 'The Black Stars have really done well even in the midst of heated agitations yet didn't boycott the last match with Portugal but proved themselves even unto defeat. The Black Stars also did put smiles on our faces with the contending draw with giants Germany'.
Coach Kwesi Appiah being first ghanaian to take the blackstars to the World Cup also deserve massive applause than this bit of ill-talks claiming his resignation from the team. AtaaSkolo reveals; he was very happy with the coach's statement at the Alisa Hotel Press Conference with the Ghanaian media. 'I won't quit coaching the Black Stars' - Kwasi Appiah.
Kwesi Appiah still has the enthuse to handle the team no matter what. If not for this slight indiscipline exhibited by some senior players, he wouldn't have being exposed to such public ridicule. He could have easily taken the BlackStars to triumph, hadn't being for the team spirit which got lost a couple of days before the matches. A whole lot of issues aroused which virtually affected the coach's decision to even make changes.
The GFA was also able to crack the whip at two star players to save the the discipline in the camp. It was a very tough decision at such odd time retaining the teams image but he did it with closed eyes . The GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi has said that, the GFA would no longer sweep acts of indiscipline in camp under the carpet. As part of it's discipline campaign, it would enact its code of conduct to bite anyone who falls prey. 'You may be the best player in the team, but if you fail to abide by the disciplinary codes, you would be shown the exit' the president added.
As for Ataa Skolo, his fervent hope is that; Ghanaians put trust in our local coach and the the GFA president for their tremendous work done and coming home safely. 'At least, we have learnt from this World Cup tournament. It's now time for the authorities to sit-back and make amendments'.
He also lauded the media, for their tireless efforts in bringing us story all the way from Brasil. The media have done a very great job but advised they be circumspect in their reportage. At the press conference and other granted interviews; revealed that some stories that broke earlier were untrue.
Keeping the spirit of the Black Stars burning, authorities should learning from this, climaxed with good press, I can assure you that 2018 -' ayeeeeeeeeeee Ruf'.

THE WORLDCUP FEVER.

Dear Readers; kindly bear with me for not revealing this prophecy on time as I was preoccupied with other activities. Moreso, I thought things might go underway and my prophecy would have been treated none but trivial. Instead, I have realized how my prophecy could have changed lives and made things go more apparently well in this world cup season.

Barely two months ago my instinct spoke to me concerning this world cup. It told me of one important and synonymous expectation, which is; Misconduct/Ectasy. Misconduct is a legal term meaning a wrongful, improper or unlawful conduct motivated by premeditated or intensional purpose or by obstinate indifference to the consequences of one's act. Whereas Ectasy is a state of emotion so intensed that, one is carried beyond rational thought and self-control. These associates are likely to be dominant in this world cup season. One would be wondering how these two have got acquaintance with football; follow critically and find out.

One clear symptom of misconduct during this world cup is street mobbing and or road-blocking by football lovers. People forming these mobs are usually persons attracted by television sets placed by the roadsides for public viewing. The world has grown to a stage further where an out-moded medium like this be done away with. The earlier days saw this; due to a limited number of televisions and access to electricity. That was when people paraded behind neighbour's windows, stand by streetsides to watch tv programs. Today, television sets have become a dime, a dozen that every household have access to. Therefore, it's very uncivilized for football fans to parade in the streets watching football matches.

Furthermore, springing up of betting companies such as; Premier, Super, Euro, My and co. have come to add fuel to the fire. For sometime now, these betting enterprises mount large screened tv-sets to show games to their customers. Not only for the punters but the public at large. This makes countless stationery persons in the street. Especially in tough matches the crowd gets bigger and claim portions of the streets making it very difficult for vehicles to ply the road. This creates unnessary motor-traffic. The supporters sometimes totally block the road during jubilations of win on their side. Other times, they get wild and hit with their hands the sides and tops of vehicles that passes by.
Some drivers also resort to blowing their car horns; causing noise pollution, speeding and even chasing people with their cars during the celebration of wins. Many in the trance of jubilation cause damage and harassement to others.

My fervent hope is that, everyone be of good conduct, stay in his/her home to watch the matches as the betting companies make better and comfortable showrooms.

KUMAWOOD FILMMAKERS NEED TRAINING - David Dontoh

Veteran actor and host of TV show "Agro-fie" has made a clarion call on all amateur film sundries to undergo training to activate their skills. He made this call last Thursday when was invited on the spotlight's show on TV3.

When one has the talent, he must be trained to sharpen his skill in dispensating it, that is what we call professionalism, David Dontoh had opined.

As for him, good movies are not determined by the language spoken but the highest sense of its delivery.
The film itself has a "language", that is why we don't understand Chinese but we enjoy their movies yet in Chinese.

A movie should even be understood by a deaf person when watching. It's not just the mere expressions of words but the body gestures; facial expression.etc makes the movie a reality.
He again stated that the Kumawood movie-makers should not limit themselves by using poor equipment, locations, costumes and others just because it's a local movie. They should resort to making their movies in the cities and big towns using good film-making items.

He did also state that Kumawood producers try to cut down cost, hence resort to using cheap labor rendering shoddy results. There are instances where Kumawood stars like Lil Wayne and Kwaku Manu are old men and in other times are school boys.it's not right!

It doesn't make meaning at all, if it's good works they want; two or more producers can come together and produce one good movie either than those independently bad produced ones.

On an end note David Dontoh says; he is around and ready for any production but "don't bring me Ghs 200 cedis and say, this is your first time".

ATAA SKOLO AND THE JUST ANOTHER DAY TV SERIES.

A comedy series making airwaves on GhOne, Saturdays at 4pm is one to look at. The series is endowed with talents running on simple themes including; Robbery, Rape, Sakawa, Boys Abr3 and the likes. It is also in bout to pull up the derailing ghanaian comedy.
Led character and Executive Producer of "Just Another Day" Alphonse Menyo, has explained that he derived the name "Ataa Skolo" from the Osu community. Ataa Skolo was once a name of his neighbour in Osu. The man Ataa Skolo was a type with an "awkward lifestyle". Little did he give heed to situations around him yet he was always the "talk of the town" he stated. Skolo is a person who always had an excuse for any mishap. For that matter, he was viewed as an outcast. In the peak of admiration of his personality, his whereabout became futilous. Alphonse, as a film maker and an auditor of characters, realised the need to play the exceptional Skolo style.
"Since the name was rare, I googled it but no vital information was given me". After countless efforts of gaining no link with the name, decided to transform the Skolo life into drama.
That ushered us into the experience of this millenium "Just Another Day" TV series.
Though such a dream has been able to come to the limelight it hadn't being easy at all. Producing, Acting and assisting in Directing was not a class one job afterall. It was challenging having an oversight of everything as a young producer cum director. Attitudes of artistes was also another factor. "It only takes a stoic person like myself to deal with it". I wouldn't allow the problems kill my dream he had said.
In an open question about his battling to win sponsors he has reiterated that "Meeting the right people at the right time" was his slogan.
He further told CMN that if a programme does not have a sponsor, does not mean it is bad but time determines it. Especially in this corruption age when "whom you know" answers it all. Also he claimed the broadcasters know how much goes into the series before it gets on air. He ended it all by saying "One person can't fool a whole TV-Station"
